Maria Gyparaki studied Philology and Theatre in France, where she began her artistic career at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. She has directed numerous lyrical works, mainly from the Italian Baroque repertoire, as well as operas by Handel and Monteverdi. She has also carried out extensive work as a writer, translator, and publisher. Among other things, she has translated part of Casanova’s Memoirs, published in Greek the work of the Venetian composer Benedetto Marcello Il teatro alla moda, and authored the monograph Drawing or Colour on the contribution of Engonopoulos to theatre. She directed Exantas Publishing from 2017 to 2020, and in 2021 collaborated with Stigmos Editions, which she later left in order to work with the bookstore Librofilo & Co on the creation of the publishing imprint of the same name. Since November 2024, she runs her own small independent publishing house, Stilvi.
