Zoologist Mark Carwardine is actively involved in environmental conservation efforts. He is an award-winning author, television and radio presenter, widely published photographer, magazine columnist, and consultant. For many years, he presented the weekly programme Nature on BBC Radio 4 and co-presented the BBC television series Last Chance to See with Stephen Fry. He has written more than 50 books, many of them bestsellers, and served for seven years, from 2005 to 2011, as Chair of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, which annually recognises the finest wildlife photographers.
